Hans - his
 and Mate
Hans J P Knop-Bamminger
- the founder and brainchild of the
concept emigrated from Holland to S.A. and set foot on wall in Cape Town in July 1969. In
1977 he started his own Real Estate and Property Development Company in
Benoni. He retired in 1990 and together with his wife started living
on
their sailing yacht and cruised the oceans of the world for the next 12
years.

Hans bought his 1st
motorbike, a Sparta with a 200cc De Villiers engine, when he turned 18,
his 2nd 2 wheeler, a Heinkel scooter, which he sold at age 19. Thereafter
he lost interest in bikes and only went around on 4 wheels. What kind of 4
wheels.......????? Oh yes, that's another story to tell........!!!
He got bitten by
the BikeBug again many years later, 36 to be precise, when living in
Thailand with his wife on his sailing yacht. He 1st rented one of those
Famous, Fantastic, Cheap to run, Honda Dream 110cc motor bikes. Thereafter
rented a Yamaha 4 cyl. 400cc chopper.
He and his wife then got bitten by the bike fever and bought a Suzuki GSXR
400 on which they extensively traveled trough Thailand.
During the 4 years
that they lived there, and for a few months per year also in Malaysia,
they had a variety of other bikes including a Suzuki Bandit 4 cyl. 400cc,
Honda CB1 4 cyl. 400cc.
One day, when his
bike was in for repairs, he borrowed a Vmax.
One of the first things he noted when riding the Max was, the brakes, and
the road holding didn't compare to what he was used to with riding the
Suzuki, but realised that you can't compare a sport bike with a Vmax.
After having spent
a whole day on the Max Hans said to his wife "When we are back in South
Africa I am going to buy one".
However, the Vmax
Hans eventually bought in South Africa, by just having made a few small
modifications, now has got an acceptable roadholding and good brakes.
A
BETTER -
SIMPLER and
USER-FRIENDLY
WAY
Searching the
disorganized
and
confusing maze
of WEB SITES was a major headache.
Hans reckoned there must be
a BETTER
-SIMPLER and USER-FRIENDLY WAY
for a website design and general layout, based on printed Magazine
Publications. After
Twelve months of research he
came up with a completely
different kind of website.
All graphics have been computer drawn/painted and designed by him.
He says "Our
website is like a piece of art. Like a painter paints his pictures and an
author researches and
writes his books."
Like many artists, during those months he has chopped and changed his
creations numerous times and promised us, our site as it is at present,
will not remain the same and will grow with us like a sturdy Oak tree.
Hans and his charming wife Marlies now live in La Lucia a suburb of
Umhlanga Rocks, just a few kilometers North of Durban. South Africa.
